 Boys Youth Grades 1-8 Program Summary

Westlake Boys Youth Lacrosse provides opportunities for learning and playing lacrosse for boys in grades 1-8.  The grade levels for teams are 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th.  All teams play in the Central Texas Youth Lacrosse Association.  The Westlake Boys Youth Lacrosse Association works closely with the Westlake High School Boys Lacrosse program to provide an integrated feeder program for the high school varsity and junior varsity teams.

REGULAR SEASON 2010 SPRING LEAGUE:

Registration is now open for Spring 2010 league play for boys grades 1-8.  Practice will start for 7th/8th graders in late January.  Practice for all other teams will start in eary February.  The season will consist of 8 games played on Sunday afternoons starting in March.  The season will conclude in early May.

Last year all grades levels went to a waitlist and due to the nubmer of teams we had to ultimately reject players at multiple grade levels.  We anticipate record enrollment again as lacrosse continues to experience trmendous growth (Westlake Boys Youth Lacrosse had a 55% registration increase last year).  TEAMS WILL BE FILLED ON A FIRST COME BASIS. 

A "tune-up" clinic will be held on January 18th at Westlake High School.  More information will be provided on a later date regarding enrollment for this clinic.

There were a number of high points to celebrate for the 2008-09 year:

• Spring league registrants grew from 137 to 217 boys
• Teams expanded from seven to thirteen
• Westlake Youth Lacrosse facilitated the introduction of boys and girls lacrosse in the PE curriculum of each Eanes ISD elementary school
• The Westlake coaching staff grew from 15 to 30 coaches and 15 of the 2009 coaches had college level lacrosse experience
• Four of the thirteen Westlake teams completed undefeated spring seasons
• The Westlake 8th grade team won the Central Texas 8th grade playoffs
• A Westlake 5th/6th grade team was runner-up in the Central Texas 5th/6th grade playoffs
• Overall, when excluding intra-association games against other Westlake teams, the cumulative season record for the thirteen Westlake teams was 61-20
• Westlake introduced its first fall team program
